Oldest Olive Tree in Europe

Posted on February 16, 2022April 11, 2025 by nicole

The Old Olive Tree in Mirovica, Montenegro claims to be one of the oldest olive trees in the world and is believed to be the oldest tree in Europe. It’s estimated to be more than 2,000 years old – and it still produces olives.

Today you can visit the old olive tree and enjoy its peaceful surroundings. It’s located in a small village in Montenegro. There is a small entrance fee to get close to the tree and walk around the perimeter. It was placed under State protection in 1957.

If you are in the area, it’s worth a quick visit if you have time.
