Planning a Road Trip

Posted on March 22, 2019April 9, 2025 by nicole

Ben and I like to do a lot of road trips. Whether it be short camping trips in Australia or exploring new countries overseas we enjoy the freedom of having a car to take us where we want to go.

When we are planning these road trips I like to visually map out our path and plan our stops. In the past I have used Google My Maps, but I find that it has a lot of bugs (a lot!). I was recently trying to map out a plan for a trip later this year, but the page kept freezing every few minutes. I had to reload the page, which meant I kept losing my pin points… It was driving me mad so I decided to look for a new tool!

This is how I discovered ezroadtrips. It’s super easy to use and I put together our road trip plan without any issues. It automatically adds details to your pin points based on the name, place, or address you entered. You can also add your own notes and pictures.

There are a few other features like adding dates to each location, sharing your itinerary, and booking hotels (through booking.com and Hotels Combined). I just recently used the share option – which was to provide friends with a suggestion of a trip we took in the past. I sent them the link and they were able to easily view the map. With the map open, they can make their own adjustments to the itinerary and save it under their account (without impacting my map).

I’ve only done a couple trip plans so far, but so far so good! It’s a basic tool, but does what I need it to do – and does it well.
