We were so excited for Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
There was a train station near the hotel that went straight to the Disney stop. We got off the train and jumped on the Disney tram since we were heading to DisneySea.
Once we arrived we had to get in line to get tickets for the day. It was a pretty smooth process, but you can read more on another post – Tickets for DisneySea and Disneyland.
It was surprisingly cold at DisneySea. The last couple of days have been OK weather wise (a little rainy but not too cold), but it was really cold even with a couple layers of clothing.
We had a great time walking around the park. It was quite different to Disney World in Florida. The general feel of the place is very Disney, but the rides and theme areas were different. In some instances they were even better than Florida. The mermaid area was amazing. It was so cool from the outside and even better from the inside.
The themes for the rides were also so well done. It was fun to be on the rides when they were all in Japanese. It changed the experience a bit, but you were still able to figure out what was going on (kind of).
There were a few rides that had a different themes. For example, the Tower of Terror. Rather than being themed based on the Twilight Zone it was a new story made up for the ride. I looked up the theme prior to going on the ride, which I’m glad I did. This meant that I could somewhat follow along with the story and know what was going throughout the ride and during the videos. Other than the story, the ride was exactly the same. It was lots of fun.
We stayed at the park until the very end. The opening hours are better in Tokyo than in Florida. The park opens early and stays open late. We always find that the early closing time at Disney World is so disappointing. It’s not very long when you want to make the most out of the day!
Christmas Day! We were excited to be spending Christmas at Disneyland…
Tokyo Disneyland was much more like Magic Kingdom in Florida. It had all the Disney magic we were looking forward to.
Once inside the park, we started the day with Mickey waffles! Yummy! What better way to start the day? Ben ordered the waffles while I secured a table. He came out with THREE waffles rather than two…he said it was a translation issue, but I think he just wanted an extra waffle! 🙂
After fuel to start our day we began to explore the park. It was a magical day walking around the park. Below are a few pictures from the day!
After an amazing day, we finished our time at Disneyland watching the light parade. The floats were beautiful. Below are a few pictures from the parade.
As we were leaving the park we walked down the Tokyo version of Main Street. It’s a covered walkway that features the store fronts. They had a Christmas theme projection displaying on the buildings. It was a nice way to leave the park.
