During our trip to Vanuatu we wanted to see a few islands and get away from the usual tourist path. During our trip, we visited Espiritu Santo, Aore, Tanna, Pentecost, Epi, and Efate islands. Not bad coverage during our 10-day trip.
We started by flying into Port Vila and had about an hour layover until our flight to Luganville on Espiritu Santo island. The airports throughout Vanutau were some of the smallest airports I have flown in and out of.
Once we arrived in Luganville we had to get to our resort on Aore island. We had arranged with the resort a taxi from the airport to a boat that took us over to the island. It was a short 10 minute boat ride from the main island.
We stayed in a lovely resort for four nights and enjoyed every moment of it. We arrived at the resort and began our holiday with a nice fruit drink in a coconut. We quickly settled into our room and then heading back to the main area for a nice dinner. We were sitting outside, right on the water. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Ben and I were both instantly stress-free and relaxed. For details on our time here see the post on Espiritu Santo island.
After Espiritu Santo we headed to Tanna. We had to fly back through Port Vila. On Tanna we stayed in two different places, we first stayed in a tree house near Mount Yasur volcano and then we stayed on the other side of the island closer to the main town and airport. For details on our time here see the post on Tanna island.
We spent our last couple nights on Efate island. We didn’t actually spend much time on the island as we decided to take a day trip to Pentecost to see land diving and go snorkeling off of Epi island. It was a fun day and we really enjoyed seeing the land diving, but it did mean that we didn’t get to see any of Efate island. See our Pentecost island post for details on the land diving experience.
We had a full 10 day trip in Vanuatu and yet we were both so relaxed the entire time. Everything was very slow paced and calm the entire trip. Can’t wait to go back.
